Hearing Scheduled for January 2006 in Power Integrations ITC Case Against System General

August 5, 2005

Next Step Toward Possible U.S. Action to Bar LCD Monitors
and Other Products Containing Infringing PWM Controllers

SAN JOSE, Calif. – August 5, 2005 – Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), the leader in high-voltage analog integrated circuits for power conversion, today an nounced that the hearing in its case against System General Corp. at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) is scheduled to begin on January 18, 2006. Based on the hearing, the judge will make an initial determination of whether System General is infringing Power Integrations' patents.

If the judge finds in favor of Power Integrations and the ITC upholds the decision, products containing the infringing parts would be excluded from the U.S. market. The parts in dispute are System General's pulse-width modulation (PWM) integrated circuits and products that incorporate them, principally LCD monitors.

Power Integrations filed a complaint with the ITC in May 2005, seeking an investigation into whether System General's parts infringe Power Integrations' U.S. Patent Nos. 6,212,079; 6,351,398; 6,366,481; and 6,538,908 . In June, the Commission decided to institute an investigation; the evidentiary hearing is a key milestone in the case. Power Integrations' complaint against System General is also pending in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of California.
