Power Integrations Petitions ITC for Immediate Relief from Importation of Power Supply Controllers Produced by System General Corp.

ITC Action Supplements Previously Filed Patent-Infringement Lawsuit

SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 9, 2005 – Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWI), the leading supplier of high-voltage analog integrated circuits used in power conversion, announced today that it has filed a complaint at the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) related to certain integrated circuits produced by System General Corporation, a Taiwanese company. The complaint relates to a patent-infringement lawsuit filed by Power Integrations against System General in June 2004.

The complaint states that certain power supply controllers produced by System General infringe upon patents owned by Power Integrations and requests that the ITC issue an order excluding these devices, and products containing them, from importation into the United States. The Commission has thirty days to decide whether to institute an investigation in response to Power Integrations' complaint.

"We believe strongly that our patents are being infringed by System General, and we now have proof that infringing products are being imported into the United States in several models of LCD monitors," said Balu Balakrishnan, president and CEO of Power Integrations. "We filed this complaint with the ITC to stop the importation of System General's products into the United States."

Power Integrations' patent-infringement lawsuit against System General, filed in June 2004 in the U.S. Federal District Court for the Northern District of California, remains in progress. The company is seeking damages and an injunction against System General's infringing products. Power Integrations recently received a favorable ruling in the case, as the presiding judge ruled that the District Court does have personal jurisdiction over System General Corporation of Taiwan and that the lawsuit should continue to move forward.

Power Integrations is represented in these matters by the firm of Fish & Richardson P.C., whose team is led by Frank Scherkenbach and Howard Pollack.
