Power Integrations Announces the Retirement of Robert Staples, Chief Financial Officer

July 20, 2000

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 20-- Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWI), today announced that Robert Staples, vice president and chief financial officer has announced that he will retire from his current duties effective September 1, 2000. Robert Lelieur, currently the Director of Finance for Power Integrations, will assume the role of interim CFO until a successor is appointed.

"Bob has been an integral part of our senior management team since his arrival in 1995," said Howard Earhart, president and chief executive officer of the company. "He played an instrumental role in our transition from a privately held company to a publicly traded company in 1997 and has contributed much to the subsequent success of Power Integrations. Bob will be sorely missed and we wish the best for him and his family."

"It is with deep regret that I step down as CFO of Power Integrations," said Mr. Staples. "To dispel any speculation about my retiring at this time, I feel it is necessary to explain the principal reason. My wife has had to struggle with a debilitating and potentially life-threatening illness, systemic lupus erythematosus. The last couple of years have been particularly challenging for her, which has brought me to the conclusion that nothing is more important than focusing on helping her regain her health. I will miss Power Integrations and the great people who work here." Mr. Staples added that he will work closely with Mr. Lelieur over the next couple of months to ensure a smooth transition. "I am confident the CFO position is in very good hands with Bob Lelieur, who has been with us since 1997 and is included in the pool of candidates that will be considered for my replacement," he said. Mr. Lelieur brings nearly 30 years of financial experience to the position as interim CFO including 20 years in controller and director positions at See's Candies. Subsequent to his positions at See's, Lelieur held various senior level financial positions at Advanced Computer Communications and National Insurance Group.
