Power Integrations Files Patent Infringement Suit Against Motorola

SUNNYVALE, CALIF. - July 22, 1998 -- Power Integrations, Inc. (Nasdaq:POWI), today announced that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Motorola (NYSE: MOT). The suit charges that Motorola infringes two of Power Integrations' patents. It was filed in the U.S. Federal District Court in San Jose, California.

"We have made substantial investments over the past ten years to develop and market innovative high-voltage power conversion ICs based on our patented technology," said Howard Earhart, president and CEO of Power Integrations. "We believe this suit is necessary to deter Motorola from competing unfairly with us by infringing our patents."
